Test Day Information

Valid Photo Identification

On test day, you must bring the original, valid identification that you used to register for the test, and you must present this identification at check-in. If the identification document that you bring with you on test day does not meet the following requirements, you will not be allowed to take the test, and you will not be able to transfer your test or receive a refund.

Your Identification Document Must Remain the Same

Your identification document must be the same one used during registration. It must exactly match your registration details, including your full name and document number.

Your Identification Document Must Be Original

Bring your original identification document on test day. Photocopies, scanned copies, screenshots, or expired documents are not accepted.

Before your test, review your registration information carefully to ensure your personal details exactly match your identification document.

Arrive with your original identification document. Without acceptable identification, you may not be permitted to take the test.

IMPORTANT : Test takers who do not provide their valid identification during check-in at the test sitting will be refused entry to the test and will not be eligible for a refund or transfer.
If you registered for the CELPIP Test with a passport booklet, we recommend that you do not send it away for any reason (i.e., extensions or visa renewals) before your scheduled test date. If you are required to do so, please send away your passport booklet after you have taken the test or before you register for the test. If you do not provide your passport booklet or the identification document that you registered with at the test sitting, you will be refused entry to the test and no refunds or transfers will be given.
For citizens of Venezuela with an expired passport (less than 5 years), you must email [email protected] for case review before registering for a CELPIP Test.

Test Confirmation Email

Once registered, you will be emailed a test confirmation email. Make sure to bring a digital or print copy of the email with you to the test sitting.
The test confirmation email will include the following information:

Registration Number

Your confirmation email includes your unique registration number. Keep it available for future reference.

Your Name

Make sure your name exactly matches the name on your identification document.

Sitting Information

Verify your testing centre, exam date, reporting time, and all important details.

Identification Requirements

Bring an acceptable original identification document that meets all official requirements.

Reporting Issues With Your Test

Report any issues that occur during your test to the test centre personnel immediately. If there was a test day issue that may have affected your results, you must report it using your CELPIP Account within 24 hours of your test. No corrective action will be taken for issues that are reported after scores have been released or more than 24 hours after the test sitting, whichever comes first.

If you experience any problems during check-in, notify the test centre staff immediately before your test begins.

  • Verify your ID and registration details.
  • Report issues with your assigned computer or equipment.
  • Ask staff if any instructions are unclear.
  • Resolve check-in concerns before the test starts.

If a technical or testing issue occurs, raise your hand immediately and inform a test centre administrator.

  • Audio cannot be heard clearly.
  • Computer or equipment stops working.
  • The test freezes or crashes.
  • Noise or distractions affect your concentration.

Do not wait until the test is over to report the issue.

If you believe a test-day issue affected your performance, submit a report through your CELPIP account within 24 hours.

Include:

  • A brief description of the issue.
  • When it happened.
  • How it affected your test.
  • Any assistance provided by the test centre staff.

Providing accurate information helps the CELPIP team review your report more efficiently.

Helpful details include:

  • Test date and location.
  • Test section where the issue occurred.
  • Equipment or technical problems experienced.
  • Actions taken by the test centre staff.
  1. To report an issue, you will need to sign in to your CELPIP Account.
  2. Under your test registration, click “Actions,” and select “Report a Test Day Issue” You will then 
be able to submit the report to us for review. 

Important Warning About Cheating

Maintaining the integrity of the CELPIP Test is essential. Any form of cheating, dishonest behaviour, or attempt to gain an unfair advantage may result in the cancellation of your test scores. Examples of misconduct include using false identification, copying or sharing test content, memorizing and reproducing test answers, impersonation, or submitting altered or fraudulent score reports.

All responses must be original and created independently during the test. Responses that appear to be memorized, copied, or otherwise non-genuine may be investigated and could lead to score cancellation or other disciplinary action. In serious cases, the test provider may report suspected misconduct to relevant authorities, educational institutions, employers, or government agencies where permitted by applicable policies and laws.

Frequently Asked Questions

I have not received my test confirmation email. What should I do?

If you do not receive your test confirmation email shortly after registering, first check your spam or junk folder. Make sure the email address in your CELPIP account is correct. If you still cannot find the confirmation, log in to your CELPIP account to verify your registration or contact CELPIP Customer Service for assistance.

What kinds of photo identification are accepted for the CELPIP Tests?

You must present a valid, original, government-issued photo ID that matches the name used during registration. Accepted identification may include a passport or other approved government-issued identification, depending on your test location. Photocopies, expired IDs, or digital copies are generally not accepted. Always review the ID requirements before your test day.

There was an issue during my test that I want to report. How do I report a test issue?

If you experience a problem during your test, notify a test centre administrator immediately. If the issue may have affected your performance, submit a report through your CELPIP account within 24 hours of your test. Include a clear description of the issue and explain how it affected your testing experience.
