What is the CELPIP?
The Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP) is a general English language proficiency test.
The CELPIP Test is designed to accurately measure a test taker’s ability to communicate effectively in English in a wide variety of real-life situations. Rather than testing only academic knowledge, the exam evaluates practical language skills that are essential for everyday life, work, and settlement in Canada. By completing realistic tasks, candidates demonstrate how confidently they can understand, interpret, and use English in meaningful contexts.
Throughout the examination, you’ll encounter scenarios that closely reflect daily life, including communicating with colleagues and supervisors in the workplace, participating in conversations with friends and community members, understanding announcements and news broadcasts, interpreting written information, and responding appropriately to emails, notices, advertisements, and other everyday documents. These practical situations allow the test to provide a comprehensive assessment of your real-world English proficiency.
The CELPIP General Test evaluates four essential language skills Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking through a fully computer-delivered format. Each section is carefully designed to assess how effectively you can communicate in practical situations while demonstrating accuracy, comprehension, fluency, and confidence.
Whether you’re preparing for Canadian immigration, professional certification, or personal goals, regular practice plays an important role in achieving your target score. Test Policies
These policies describe the rules that apply to late arrivals, cancellations/transfers of test session registrations, cancellations of orders, and related matters.
Late Policy
All test takers are required to arrive at the test centre at least 45 minutes before their scheduled test time. This allows enough time to complete identity verification, registration, and other required check-in procedures before the exam begins.
Please note that check-in closes 15 minutes before the scheduled start time. Candidates who arrive after the check-in deadline will not be permitted to enter the test centre. Missed appointments due to late arrival are generally not eligible for a refund or test transfer, so it is important to plan your travel accordingly and arrive on time.
Test Registration Cancellation/Transfer By You
If you need to cancel or reschedule your CELPIP test, you must submit your request within the timeframe specified by the official testing policies. Cancellation or transfer requests made before the applicable deadline may qualify for a refund or transfer option, subject to the provider's terms and conditions.
Requests submitted after the deadline may not be eligible for a refund, transfer, or any modification to your test registration. Before making any changes, carefully review the applicable policies and ensure all requests are completed through the official registration process.
Test Session Cancellation/Invalidation By Paragon
In certain situations, the test provider may cancel or invalidate a scheduled test session due to operational, technical, security, or administrative reasons. If this occurs, affected candidates will be notified as soon as possible and provided with information regarding available options, which may include rescheduling the test or receiving a refund, depending on the circumstances.
A test session may also be invalidated if there is evidence of misconduct, identity verification issues, or violations of the official testing rules. Candidates are expected to comply with all test centre policies and procedures to ensure their test results remain valid.
Order Cancellation
Orders for digital products, practice tests, courses, or other services may be cancelled only in accordance with our cancellation policy. Once an order has been successfully processed or digital content has been accessed or delivered, it may no longer be eligible for cancellation.
If you believe an order was placed in error or require assistance with your purchase, please contact our support team as soon as possible. All cancellation requests are reviewed based on the nature of the purchase and the applicable terms and conditions.
Retake Policy
Candidates who wish to take the CELPIP test again must follow the official retake eligibility requirements and register for a new test session. A previous test attempt does not automatically qualify a candidate for priority scheduling or discounted registration.
Before booking another test, it is recommended to review your previous performance, identify areas for improvement, and prepare thoroughly to achieve a better score. All retake registrations are subject to test centre availability and the applicable testing policies in effect at the time of registration.
Who Accepts CELPIP
